Adventure awaits! Welcome to Term 2 After-School Shred Squad YOUTH. WHO THIS IS FOR? For PRE-INTERMEDIATE riders aged approx. 7–9 years, though older riders are welcome if the level suits. Best for riders who can ride easy Blue trails (like Shred Kelly) and climb uphill for 10-15 minutes at a time. Indicative trails: Tombstone, Lower Shred Kelly, Couch Surfer, Gorilla Warfare MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Minimum age: 7 Minimum bike size: 24-inch wheels Offroad mountain bike with gears (no single-speeds) Able and willing to climb uphill for approx. 15 minutes WHAT RIDERS WILL LEARN This program helps kids continue developing their fundamental MTB skills, building confidence and independence out on the trails. Sessions will focus on developing good brake control, strong body position, trail etiquette, basic bike care, and terrain awareness. Riders will work on skill development, safe progression, teamwork and have heap of fun on the trails. THE COACHES Sessions are led by qualified MTB instructors with first aid certificates and Working with Children Checks. THE DETAILS • 7-week program (over 8 weeks, incl. 1-week break) • Thursdays, July 16-Sept 23 • Mid-term break: August 13 • Time: 4pm-5pm • Location: Mystic Trailhead, Coronation Ave, Bright WHAT TO BRING • Mountain bike suitable for off-road riding • AS-approved bike helmet • Gloves • Water bottle or hydration pack • Clothing that offers some protection, no singlet tops • Optional but recommended: knee pads, elbow pads and long sleeves MYSTIC MEMBERSHIPS All riders need a current Mystic Park Mountain Pass to participate. These are no longer free for kids. If your child is an Alpine Cycling Club member, they may be eligible for a free membership by emailing mtb@alpinecyclingclub.com.au.
